Feelgood Cafe: Lee Rourke and Tim Burrows in Conversation

 

At this Feelgood Cafe event, Lee Rourke read from his latest novel, Vulgar Things (a book using the landscape of Southend, Canvey Island and the early hits of Dr Feelgood as key protagonists). He was joined ‘in conversation’ by Tim Burrows, a Southend-born writer and musician who sometimes drums in the band, Private Trousers.

Lee Rourke in Conversation with Tom McCarthy at the London Review Bookshop

 

On the eve of its confirmation as one of the six Man Booker shortlisted books for 2010, Tom McCarthy's ambitious and exhilarating novel C was the subject for discussion between its author and novelist Lee Rourke. McCarthy reads from C and considers its structure and themes – in particular its roots in the work of key 20th century theorists, literary, philosophical and psychological.

Little Atoms 343 – Lee Rourke & Vulgar Things

 

Lee Rourke is the author of the short story collection Everyday, and the novel The Canal, which won the Guardian’s Not the Booker Prize in 2010. He is writer in residence at Kingston University, where he is an MFA lecturer in creative writing and critical theory. He also lectures in creative writing at the University of East London. His latest novel is Vulgar Things.
